Housing

For those that live 150% of poverty will qualify for housing assistance. This will be in the form of apartments in high rise buildings. It is understood that we should be building up and not out. The more land taking for housing, the less there will be for other things (farming for example). All apartments will have a kitchen, a living room, 1 bathroom for 1 & 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms for 3 and 4 bedrooms. Families needing 5 bedrooms or more will have arrangements made to acquire a house for their needs.

All building under housing assistance will be designed to meet higher standards. The unit will have RJ45 jacks everywhere to provide for Internet, telephone, and television services. Each apartment will have a small communications closet where there will be an RJ45-WAN jack which will connect to Ka-Tel Internet services. And with the telephone, and television infrastructure being modernized to meet with the unified jack standards, all connections are RJ45. This will eliminate coaxial, and RJ11 jacks from the building entirely.

The ID card will use the RFID chip in the card to unlock entry into the building, and to unlock their unit’s door. This will eliminate the need for a key. A similar system will also be used for the mailboxes in the building. By using the national ID card in replacement of keys, it makes things much simpler, and when they no longer have access to the unit, or building, their access can simply be revoked.

Electric, sewage, trash and water will be included. This is because it will be more work to separate the utilities to individual services. Ka-Tel provides free options for internet, telephone, and television for the household, so that shouldn’t be an issue. In regards to telephone, the household will also qualify for the Low Income Phone Service program which will deduct their Ka-Tel bill by $20KaD when telephone service is included.

Housing will assume for poor people that will likely not own an automobile. With that in mind, all housing buildings will be within a 5 minute walk to a bus route. This will minimize the negative impact of not owning an automobile. Access to garages is not guaranteed though.
