Public Transit

Public transit will be considered as an essential resource. This is because not everyone can afford a car, and for those that can’t, public transit is their best or only solution. With that said, KTA (Kaldus Transit Authority). KTA will provide public transit and flex ride options for the entire nation. This will include local and national trips. Since it is an essential resource, KTA will have to keep their localized routes as affordable as possible. This is to meet the needs of the people, and especially the poor. Every providence will have their own localized service. All routes will center around the main city. Such buses going to the center of that city will be considered as a primary route. All other buses will be secondary routes – even if the trip is longer than a primary route. Inter-providence connections will also be possible. Also, every providence will have busways that would connect the main city’s center to the other providences. Secondary buses will connect to these busways. This will reduce the need for other primary routes that would serve streets.

KTA will have two options for paying fare. One will be from the rider’s debit card, and another will be from the fare card provided by KTA. The debit card can be used, and a 3 hour pass will be provided, but the transaction will happen immediately. This will mean busy days will see multiple charges on the debit card’s statement sheet. The second option is to use the fare card. While being an extra card to use, the fare card will offer 3 hour passes as with the debit card, but also offer 7 day, 15 day and 31 days passes. The rider can set the passes through KTA’s login portal (https://portal.kta.ka). Passes will work with all KTA routes, and not just the providence that the rider is in. However, passes only apply for localized routes, and national routes will require a much higher price that the pass can’t support. The fare card can still be used, but the funds for the trip has to be in the card’s money pool. An alternative is to also use the debit card from the Kaldan National Bank.

Routes will be uniformed across the entire network. Each providence will have their own set of routes. Routes with a letter + a single digit will be a busway route. Buses with a letter + a 2 digit number will be a primary route. Routes with a single digit + letter will be a route that will use the busways, but will not serve the main city’s center. Buses with a 2 digit number followed by a letter will be a secondary route. The letters are as follows:

  • E: Eastbound routes
  • N: Northbound routes
  • S: Southbound routes
  • W: Westbound routes

Children under 5 will ride for free with a full fare paying rider. 6-12 is half fare when using a child fare card. 13-64 will be full fare. 65+ will be free with the fare card. Adult passengers that are disabled will pay half fare when using their fare card. Any discounts will also apply to passes.
