1Health

1Health is the national healthcare system for all citizens in Kaldus. This essentially means that Kaldus will be a single payer healthcare system. Non-Citizens can also take advantage of 1Health, but they must pay into it. Some people may try to use fear mongering and say that your doctor might not be in the network. With single payer healthcare, all licensed doctors are in the network. This is the whole point of single payer.

There will be some red tape. For specialty medicines, a specialist must prescribe it. For example, an opioid painkiller must be prescribed by an anesthesiologist. The PCP can prescribe non-opioid painkillers though. Psychiatric medicine must be prescribed by a psychiatrist. Eye medicine by an optometrist. In any event, I am sure you get the idea. 1Health provides care that is needed for the patient. If there are teeth missing, the orthodontist will prescribe for dentures, or implants. 1Health then approves the request, and the items are made. A Specialist will submit an approval request to 1Health for a perticular medicine, and it is then prescribed to the patient for the time needed to be on the medicine – even if lifelong.

1Health will also cover medically necessary surgeries. Having plastic surgery to adjust looks, face lifts, and tummy tucks aren’t considered as medically necessary, and will not be covered by 1Health. Therefore, the patient must pay for these cosmetic surgeries. If there is a facial deformity for example, plastic surgery will be approved by 1Health to cover the surgery.

For a healthcare card, the National ID card will be used. This card has an EMV chip, and will be required for all citizens that would need healthcare. For very young children that won’t be allowed to benefit from all of the features of the National ID card (such as a 4 year old), then the Department of Welfare will provide a National ID – Essentials card. This card will have most of the features of the National ID card, but doesn’t have the full benefits. For example, there will be no photo for the card. The card will function mostly for healthcare, bus fare, and banking solutions.
