Electricity

The government will own all of the electrical lines. There will be a government controlled company known as KEP (Kaldus Electric and Power) which will own the electrical wires. This will include those buried underground, and those on poles. As time goes on KEP will move to burying electrical lines under ground, and any new development will require these electrical lines to be underground. This is because underground electrical lines are more resilient to storms, and other natural events.

Since electricity is an essential resource, KEP will be required to keep rates affordable. Taxes will be used to contribute to building the infrastructure and resources whereas the rates will cover the day to day operations. By keeping the rates affordable, a poor person may have the ability to not have to choose between electricity and food.

KEP will immediately phase out coal, and natural gas generation plants, and instead look to renewable sources such as solar farms, wind farms, and thorium reactors as options to provide electricity. In addition, KEP will offer assistance for customers to install solar panels on their roof to provide some if not all of the electrical needs. While this will mean that KEP will receive less money, there is a desire for the future to not have to charge for electricity service as this is essential for every day life.
